Shaun Leckenby Design x OTS

Shaun Leckenby's design work for this blog's cult favourite OneTrueSaxon. It's perhaps not as iconic as Ewen Brown's art (which I once posted about once upon a time here ) for said brand, however there's some cool bits and pieces here...

Football Map

There's no place like home. Dorothy knew it. She must've known there's no place like your football clubs home either, as she (well, We Are Dorothy) has recreated the names of British football stadia into a quirky map. So she'll be able to find her way from Oz to Carrow Road.

Over 500 names are included, the majority famous football grounds but also 'map-tly' named training grounds (i.e Platt Lane), club names (Nottingham Forest) and players (David Rocastle). Hartlepool are represented twice with Victoria Park and Rink End making an appearance.

It's an inspired walkthrough famous names and places of British football. Available for £25 which given the match day prices for the majority of stadiums is a bargain.

This is England 1990

Shall be returning soon. And the backdrop to the attitude/clobber this time shall be Acid House.

To celebrate this, Talent House are running a competition for artists to create a flyer inspired by the whole scene. I'm no artist but plugging a fellow connoisseurs effort Josh Parky. If you like his effort follow the link and click like.

Rave on.

Warp Films x Pete McKee

This time last year Warp Films turned ten years old. As part of the anniversary celebrations they commissioned Pete McKee to redesign their back catalogue film posters in his own unique style. With great results too it should be noted.

Oneupmanship Journal

The blog that inspired my own, and probably hundreds more pretenders, the Oneupmanship Journal was the Connoisseurs link between (the now defunct) Countylads.com and Casualco.com. However it is now lost in the mists of time, as blogger and chief Dan lost his password. It's been out of ops for over a year now, but it's still the original and best out there so it rightly deserves a bit of blog loving. For me it was the perfect blend of everything I enjoy - jackets, shoes, pickups, brands I like, films, and arty farty shit - and not much football.

True Oneupmanship in action... but no more.

Hallyink

Here's something both good and northern. Hallyink, a Hartlepool based sketchist, who's focussing on local clubs cult heroes and then recreating them with a classic smudging of HB granite. Refreshing to see an artist dedicating his talents to the likes of Pools and Boro, rather then Man Utd and Liverpool, for a change. Could easily do United's treble winners - let's be honest, they'd sell quicker - but no, Hartlepool United are his team and drawing is his gift, so that's what he's going to do. Good man. Check out his wares here
